Our Foundation
ARIPAL Convening is an idea initiated by Hannah Muzee and John Mushomi Atwebembeire. It was born out of the need to bridge the disconnect between parliaments, practice and academic research. While there are initiatives that have opened up parliament to the citizens, they felt that more collaboration was needed to ensure that parliaments are not only relevant but also that African parliaments and legislation continue to contribute to sustainable development inclusively.
The AFRIPAL Convening was created to provide a space where academia and practice can collaborate to offer strategic thought leadership on parliamentary democracy and legislation in Africa.Â
The AFRIPAL Convening will be launched at the inaugural Africa Regional Conference on Parliament and Legislation (AFRIPAL, 2025) in Kampala, Uganda.
